Governor Tate Reeves has announced his approval for State Economic and Infrastructure Development (SEID) grant program funding in the amount of $475,000 from the Southeastern Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC) for Neshoba County. This grant will provide funding for the construction of a West Industrial Park Access Road in the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Industrial Park which will open an additional 85 acres of industrial park land for business recruitment and expansion. Governor Reeves previously announced $250,000 in Site Development Funding through the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) for this project.
Through this project, a new access road will be constructed on the western side of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Industrial Park, adjacent to the airport property, to facilitate expansion into the southern portion of the industrial park in preparation for future site development. The project is anticipated to cost approximately $1,088,000.00 and will include design, permitting, erosion control, drainage structures, soil cementing of the roadway, a limestone aggregate topping and signage. The roadway will be constructed to be ready for heavy-duty asphalt pavement for which future funding will be sought.
"Neshoba County is very appreciative of Governor Reeves, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Southeastern Crescent Regional Commission for their continued investment in our community. This commitment strengthens our economic future and represents more than dollars - it is a vote of confidence in our ability to grow, attract new opportunities and create lasting prosperity. The Neshoba County Board of Supervisors remains dedicated to building the infrastructure, workforce and partnerships that will ensure Neshoba County continues to thrive for generations to come," said Kevin Cumberland, Board President. "We also want to thank East Central Planning and Development District Executive Director Kawanna McCary and Community Development Partnership President David Vowell for their help and assistance in securing this funding."
