Dixon Volunteer Fire Protection District Achieves Seventh Class Fire Protection Rating effective April 30, 2025

Neshoba County Fire Coordinator Josh Burt informed the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors at their regular meeting on June 2, 2025, that the Dixon Volunteer Fire Protection District has achieved a Seventh Class Rating effective April 30, 2025.

In a letter dated June 2, 2025, the Mississippi State Rating Bureau announced that with the most recent survey and grading of the Dixon Volunteer Fire Protection District's fire prevention and fire protection facilities they are eligible for the Seventh-Class rating.

Dixon was rated in the Eighth Class and insurance premiums are eligible to be lowered with the new Seventh-Class rating.

The Dixon Volunteer Fire Protection District is the first volunteer fire department to achieve a Seventh-Class rating in Neshoba County.  The majority of the other eleven fire departments are rated as a Class 8.
