New Bridges Nearing Completion

Construction of two new bridges which have replaced deficient structures on Roads 397 and 624 are nearing completion.

This new bridge on Road 397 is open to traffic and is substantially complete.  At their regular meeting on Monday, June 6, 2016,  the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors awarded the contract for Bridge Replacement Project LSBP-50(13) - 0.152 Miles of Bridge and Gravel Roadway on Road 397 in northern Neshoba County.  This bridge is just west of Highway 19 North above Arlington.  After receiving sealed bids, the project was awarded to N.L. Carson Construction Company, Inc. of Petal in the amount of $552,485.24.  The total project cost is $646,400.00.  Other bidders on the project included Dozer, LLC of Natchez in the amount of $607,946.10 and Tanner Construction of Laurel in the amount of $695,560.22.  The project had a contract time of 75 working days.

Construction of the new bridge on Road 624 is also nearing completion with some dirtwork remaining and signing and striping of the roadway.

The Neshoba County Board of Supervisors at their regular Board Meeting on August 1, 2016 received bids for a bridge replacement on Road 624 in the Spring Creek Community.  There were three bids received and the contract was awarded to the lowest bidder N.L. Carson Construction Company of Carthage for construction of this bridge project who also contructed the bridge on Road 397.  The bid awarded for the replacement of this bridge was in the amount of $538,414.24 and the project is anticipated to take 75 working days.  The other bids received for the project were Magco, Inc in the amount of $555,891.90 and Joe McGee Construction Company in the amount of $695,603.14.
