Duties and Responsibilities
The Sheriff is elected at-large and serves a four-year term. The Sheriff's law enforcement duties include keeping peace within the county. Administrative duties include serving as the county's jailor, submitting a budget of the operation of his office to the Board of Supervisors, keeping Mississippi Department Reports, and keeping a jail docket.

Donnie Adkins was elected Sheriff of Neshoba County in November, 2007. He took office on January 7, 2008.

Each individual of the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department takes great pride in being allowed to serve the citizens of Neshoba County.
The drug problem in Neshoba County has been an ongoing fight for all branches of Law Enforcement. Most of the time property crimes and even violent crimes are due to drugs. The Neshoba County Sheriff's Department would like to hear from anyone who has information about any illegal activity taking place in Neshoba County. The Neshoba County Law Enforcement Center was opened in January 1995. It's constuction was completed in less than seven (7) months at a cost to the citizens of Neshoba County of 1.8 million dollars. The building was one of the first to use factory-assembled detention facilities. This system is based on an inovative design of welded steel units that are factory-assembled and fully outfitted for detention cell, dormitories, day rooms, etc. The Neshoba County Law Enforcement Center contains over 15,000 square feet of space. It's design includes 52-bed maximum security beds, 12-beds for work crew members. The building also houses the administrative offices for the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department,and the Neshoba County Emergency Management Agency's Communications /911 Division.
